Dr. Matthew McFadden - VP Cyber & Distinguished Technologist, GDIT

Dr. Matthew McFadden is Vice President of Cyber, Distinguished Technologist, and leads the Cyber Center of Excellence for General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT). GDIT offers a comprehensive portfolio of advanced cyber solutions and professional services to solve complex cyber mission challenges.

As GDIT’s Vice President of Cyber and chief of GDIT’s Cyber Center of Excellence, Dr. Matthew McFadden spearheads cyber strategy for the Federal/Civilian, Defense, and the Intelligence & Homeland Security. He represents a cyber workforce of over 3,000+ professionals, 14+ Services, 30+ Cyber Alliances, and 30+ agencies supporting the largest cyber operations and unique cyber missions in the federal sector. His roles include developing cyber solutions, technical capabilities, consulting, leading GDIT’s Cyber Center of Excellence, and championing innovation through GDIT’s Cyber Partners & Alliances.

In his role he leads cyber capabilities in risk assessment, cloud security, vulnerability assessment, incident response/forensics, threat hunting, cyber analytics, endpoint security, network security, cyber operations, threat intelligence, cyber training, adaptive cyber defense, and specialized focus areas in zero trust, cloud security, autonomous cyber defense, and AI/ML applications in cyber. He has supported key programs and agencies in various roles as technical lead, architect/engineer, and advisor at DHS, CISA, USCYBERCOM, FBI, DISA, DC3, HHS, FAA, DoS, DoEd, JSP, NAVSEA, ARNG, milCloud, ESS, DEOS, and various other agencies.

Previously, Dr. McFadden served in various roles such as Cyber Director at CSRA, Chief Technologist, Defense at CSRA, Distinguished Engineer in Cybersecurity at CSC. At CSC he held various program roles as Network Intrusion Subject Matter Expert/Instructor, R&D Lead, Manager of Information Management / Lead Engineer for Computer Sciences Corporation. Also, supported various cybersecurity private sector roles in health and manufacturing.

Dr. McFadden received his Doctorate of Computer Science in Information Assurance from Colorado Technical University, Doctorate of Education in Organizational Leadership from Northeastern University, Master of Science in Information Security and a Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering & Network Security from UAT. He is a published author and researcher, has presented at over 50+ conferences, holds numerous industry cybersecurity certifications (including CISSP, ZTX, CCSK, Security+), and has developed and instructed over 15+ cyber courses. Dr. McFadden was the team captain of GDIT’s winning Palmetto Cyber Defense Competition Pro teams (2016, 2017, and 2018).
